60W Solar Roof Tiles1
60W Solar Roof Tiles2
60W Solar Roof Tiles3

60W integrated solar roof tiles combine a listed 60Wp photovoltaic unit with a roof-integrated format. Product approval requires both electrical checks—Voc, Vmp, current, strings and inverter limits—and roofing checks such as structure, waterproofing, drainage, fixing details and replacement access.

60W Integrated Solar Roof Tile Features

  • 60Wp listed maximum power: confirm the final model label, flash-test tolerance and order-specific datasheet.
  • 18V Vmp and 3.3A Imp: use the cold-weather Voc and hot-weather Vmp calculation when designing each string.
  • 21.6V Voc and 3.65A Isc: check inverter voltage, current and maximum system-voltage limits before layout approval.
  • 23.5% listed cell efficiency: do not treat cell efficiency as finished-tile or installed-roof efficiency.
  • 800 x 450mm tile and 2.8kg listed weight: coordinate roof loading, battens, overlaps, drainage and replacement access.
  • IP68-rated junction box listed: request the connector, cable, sealing and waterproofing details for the exact order.
  • Multiple connector options listed: confirm one approved connector type, polarity, cable length and mating components.

Integrated Solar Roof Tile Applications

Integrated solar roof tiles may suit new-build or roof-replacement projects where the PV surface must be coordinated with the roofing system. Suitability depends on the approved roof build-up, waterproofing details, structural loads, fire requirements, wind and snow loads, cable route and service access.

Buyers comparing interlocking solar roof tiles should request order-specific overlap, batten, fixing, edge and waterproofing drawings. Do not assume an interlocking roof-system detail from product appearance alone.

  • Residential homes and villas with a defined solar-roof layout.
  • Commercial, hospitality and office projects with coordinated roof and electrical design.
  • Developments that can retain safe access for inspection, isolation and individual tile replacement.
  • Projects where the local authority, roofer, structural engineer and electrical designer accept the same system details.

Array size should be calculated from the usable roof zones, shading, orientation, inactive edge pieces, tile overlap and inverter limits rather than gross roof area alone.

Roofing, Electrical and Supplier Evidence

Solar roof tiles are both electrical products and part of the weathering layer. Before approval, request system drawings for battens, underlay, overlaps, ridges, valleys, eaves, penetrations, drainage and replacement access. A junction-box IP rating alone does not prove that the completed roof is watertight.

For the electrical package, confirm the model label, power tolerance, Voc and Isc temperature coefficients, bypass behavior, connector system, cable length, grounding or bonding method, inverter string calculation, isolation and applicable certificates. Record the agreed inspection and replacement procedure in the project documents.

For post-commissioning service planning, use the integrated solar roof tiles maintenance checklist to define fault isolation, roof access, compatible spares, tile replacement and recommissioning evidence.

60W Solar Roof Tile Output Planning

Active tile quantityNominal array powerPlanning note
10 tiles600WpArithmetic nameplate total before mismatch, shading, temperature and system losses.
50 tiles3.0kWpConfirm string voltage, roof zones, inactive pieces and inverter inputs.
100 tiles6.0kWpConfirm roof loading, string layout, cable routes, isolation and service access.

These values are 60Wp multiplied by active-tile quantity, not an energy-yield forecast. Use the integrated solar roof tile checklist to review coverage, waterproofing and system boundaries before estimating annual kWh.

Roof and Waterproofing Approval Checklist

  • Confirm compatible battens, underlay, flashings, overlaps, ridge, valley, eave and penetration details.
  • Obtain wind-uplift, snow-load, fire, drainage and structural evidence required by the project location.
  • Separate active PV tiles from inactive edge and finishing pieces in the roof schedule.
  • Define safe inspection, isolation, access and individual-tile replacement procedures.
  • Assign warranty responsibility for the electrical product, roof installation and completed waterproofing system.

For incoming goods and shipment evidence, use the PV pre-shipment inspection checklist.

String Design, Inverter and Battery Checks

  • Calculate maximum cold Voc and minimum hot Vmp from the order-specific temperature coefficients.
  • Keep every series string and parallel input inside the inverter voltage and current limits.
  • Confirm connector compatibility, polarity, cable length, routing, protection, isolation and earthing or bonding.
  • Estimate seasonal PV energy before selecting battery capacity or promising recharge time.

Review the PV-to-battery matching guide, compare the solar product range, or send the roof and electrical data for configuration review.

Integrated Solar Roof Tiles FAQ

Are solar roof tiles the same as rack-mounted solar panels?

No. Both generate DC power, but roof tiles also interact with the roof weathering, drainage, fixing and replacement system.

Does an IP68 junction box make the full roof waterproof?

No. It describes the listed junction box. Completed-roof waterproofing also depends on underlay, overlaps, flashings, penetrations, drainage and installation quality.

How many 60W tiles make a 6kWp array?

One hundred active 60Wp tiles equal 6kWp nominal. The roof will also need inactive pieces, spacing and access, and actual output is lower than nameplate power in many conditions.

Can solar roof tiles charge a battery?

Yes, when the complete array, inverter or charge controller, battery and protection system are correctly sized and compatible.
